David, the introduction of GPDR and other data protection frameworks have put many in a tailspin and arguably has had a huge impact on the way we treat and view data. Has the impact been that large for you as well?
Firstly, I have to say that as a security professional data protection has always been in focus. Data protection frameworks have helped to leverage more collaboration across the enterprise. The guidance available to the business lines as data owners helped them to live up to their responsibilities.
The raised data protection awareness amounted to more management support, but at the same time created more demand. Internal and external partners have strived to be compliant, and as such myself and, my legal colleagues have had to support the business to achieve these goals.
Based on the premise that you are working more closely with legal counsels, for example, in the event of a data breach, what has been your experience?
I think there are a lot of synergies between legal and security professionals. We are both trained to reduce business risk and to pick up on details that perhaps others would miss. With so much in...
